5.4 The theology set against the material interests (Direction 1)

Theological claim (as reported) Material interest it lines up with Limits of the overlap
AI regulation and a "one-world government" that can "stop all dangerous science" are the Antichrist's path; Obama and the pope oppose AI for popularity (Fortune) [V] AI deregulation: the federal push to pre-empt state AI laws (EO 14365, §2.4). Palantir sells AI platforms (Maven, $637.6M sole-source order, §D1). Thiel Macro's 13F lists $418.7M in eight stocks at 30 June 2026: Amazon $118.0M, Vista Energy $75.9M, Vistra $59.1M, AEP $42.2M, DTE $40.3M, FirstEnergy $39.9M, CMS $39.6M, X-Energy $3.7M (SEC 13F) [V]. Seven of the eight are energy names (utilities, a nuclear developer, an Argentine oil producer), which a Yahoo Finance analysis reads as a bet on AI's power bottleneck (Yahoo Finance) [V] He has held the one-world-state thesis since long before the AI boom (the Guardian traces it to the 1990s) [V]. The filing states no thesis; "AI-focused" is the press's label. His stance now diverges from the leading AI CEOs
The katechon must be a military superpower; the US is the New Rome (X) [R] Palantir ($1.98B in FY2026 obligations; the $10B single-bid Army agreement) and Anduril ($1.11B in FY2026) supply the US military (§D1) [V]. Founders Fund put $1B into Anduril's $2.5B round in June 2025, its largest check ever (TechCrunch) [V] The same lecture warns that the katechon can "flip" into the Antichrist, and that payment surveillance (Rev. 13:17) is a mark of both [R]. His theology thus also indicts the capability his firms sell. That is a tension, not proof of motive
Bank-secrecy erosion, tax-transparency regimes and the ICC are the Antichrist's "system" (X) [R]; in SF, "It's become quite difficult to hide one's money" (Guardian) [V] Mobility of wealth and residence: NZ citizenship after 12 days (§2.1); a US$12m house bought in Buenos Aires in 2026, and a meeting with Milei at the Casa Rosada (Forbes Argentina) [V]; a $75.9M stake in Argentina's Vista Energy (13F above) [V]. The administration's ICC sanctions (EO 14203, §2.8) match his ICC theme [V] No evidence of any tax avoidance by Thiel was found [U]. The ICC point is an ideological match with US policy, not a contract. The Night 3 list rests on attendee accounts
The pope's AI encyclical is a "distraction" from abuse scandals (Gizmodo) [V] The encyclical calls for greater international AI regulation (CNN) [V]. Palantir does government business in Italy, where lawmakers asked for transparency on the government's ties to it during the Rome lectures (Fortune) [V] The attack is also theological and long-running (Benedict, Francis, Küng in First Things). Sincerity is affirmed even by critics (NCR, opinion)
Paris: the Antichrist would exploit fears of nuclear war, climate change or AI to control a "frightened population" (Politico Europe) [V] The same Monday he lunched with France's foreign minister, whose aide listed "digital regulation" among the topics; Palantir serves the DGSI and Airbus (Politico Europe (FR)) [V] The lunch was at the minister's invitation, to discuss "differences of opinion" [V]. Nothing shows a deal

Reading. The overlap is real and specific. In every city, the figure he warns about (the regulator, the safety-promising world authority, the transparency regime) matches the policies that would constrain his companies and his capital. The New Rome he wants to restrain it is built from the military, payment and intelligence capability that Palantir and Anduril sell. Its limits are just as clear. The thesis is decades old and predates Palantir's AI revenue. He now stands against the AI CEOs, not with them. His own theology warns that the restrainer can become the Antichrist, which cuts against his firms as well. No document links a lecture to a contract, a regulation or a payment. The fair description is a sincere theology whose villains coincide with his regulators, not a theology invented to sell software.
